( sorry not supposed to call it a diet! I am food optimising!!!!!! bah humbug I still can't eat 10 Mars Bars and a six pack of crisps on a Saturday night! so it's a diet!!!!!!!!!!!) PMSL
By the way lost 4lb this week! Woo Hoo!

365 - Day 18

Monday 18th January 2010
Gemma's bead bracelet.
I took lots of photos of Gemma making this bracelet at Guides tonight, but after she had checked them out, I am only allowed to show this photo because she didin't have her makeup on!

365 - Day 17

Sunday 17th January 2010
Here is Coco playing with her favourite toy. She has lots of toys but she really loves these squeaky balls. She plays with them for ages and eventually she chews all the green fluff off and rips them apart. The other day she brought me a piece of a ball no bigger than my thumb and still wanted to play tug of war and fetch with it! LOL

365 - Day 16

Saturday 16th January 2010
Zoe got the Twilight saga for Christmas, so Zoe has to read the books first, then Gemma is next in line because she bought them for Zoe and finally I get them passed to me. Here I am starting book 1 - Twilight.

365 - Day 15

Friday 15th January 2010
This is me trying to beat my High Score at Ski Jump on the Wii Fit. Failed :0(

365 - Day 14

Thursday 14th January 2010
Gemma and me off to meet my friends Judy and Janet for lunch.

365 - Day 13

Wednesday 13th January 2010
It was still dark when I left for work this morning and we have had a fresh lot of snow overnight! I love being the first one to make footprints in the snow so I had to use this as my photo for today. My fresh trail of footprints. yeeha!!!!!!!!

365 - Day 12

Tuesday 12th January 2010
It's my Slimming world class tonight! We all take in a piece of fruit and the slimmer of the week gets to take it home! I wasn't slimmer of the week this week but I did lose a pound. Woo Hoo! Finally going the right way again after going up every week in December and putting on loads over Christmas and New Year!!!!

365 - Day 11

Monday 11th January 2010
Gemma's friends Eleanor and Alfred came round today. Alfred brought some wii games for us to try and we had a few games of cards and I got this snap of the kids playing Scrabble while I cooked the dinner. By the way I think the New Super Mario is great! It is now top spot on my wishlist of Wii games.

365 - Day 10

Sunday 10th January 2010
I didn't realise when starting this challenge that we would get prompts every day giving us ideas for our photos. I have not followed these yet because, with the time difference, I have usually taken my photo before I get the email. We are free to use our own ideas or the prompts however we like so, as one of the subjects this week was laughter, today I chose this picture of Zoe laughing her head off! I happened to be reading the email with the laughter prompt and Zoe started doing a fake laugh, by the time I snapped this pic she was laughing for real! ;0)

365 - Day 9

Saturday 9th January 2010
With all the pain of my foot yesterday I forgot to put more money on the key for the electric meter! So late Saturday night the electric runs out!!!!! bummer!!!!!!!!! I couldn't go to the shop because I couldn't walk on the ice with my sore foot! gemma was staying at a friends and it was much too late for Zoe to go out, so Zoe and I had to sit in candle light til it was time to go to bed. Luckily Zoe was still reading her Twilight books so she was happy reading. Gemma came home early the next day so she went to the shop for me! Hooray!

365 - Day 8

Friday 8th January 2010
My foot started hurting me at work today. I decided to still walk home because I thought it might wear off with a bit of exercise. No such luck! By the time I got home my foot was killing me. I had a cup of tea and a sit down to rest my foot but when I stood up I was in agony! I couldn't put any weight on my foot (and I've got a lot of weight to put down!!!!! lol) Luckily Gemma had some crutches that a friend gave her last year so Zoe got them out of the cupboard. They were a great help. With plenty of rest over the weekend my foot was ok for work again on Monday!

Sneaky peek

365 - Day 7

Thursday 7th January 2010
Another snowy photo today! I love snow. Opposite the playgroup where I work there is a place called Abney Park Cemetry. I see people taking their dogs for walks in there and playgroup sometimes takes the children for a quick trip out there but I have never been. Today after work I suddenly decided to go and have a look! With the 365 challenge in mind I thought I would investigate and possibly get a photo for today! It was so beautiful in there I was amazed! Of course the snow helped! It was a much bigger place than I had imagined with lots of old gravestones and winding pathways. There is an old church in the middle. I walked around for ages and got loads of great photos (might have to be a double layout for those one day!) but this is the photo I have chosen for this challenge. I was standing at a bit of a crossroads here, looking down one of the main pathways. I turned right and headed for the church.

So that is my first week done! More pics of things than people this week but Gemma won't let me take photos of her without her makeup on ( I remember those days when I cared what I looked like!) and Zoe doesn't mind me taking pictures as long as I don't show anyone else! Well there are some more people photos for week 2 coming up! Shhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell the kids!!!!!! lol
Off to lunch now so I will carry on with my catchups later!
Have a great day!
Ali

365 - Day 6

Wednesday 6th January 2010
It snowed! I got to work ok through the snow and I thought this bush looked so pretty with the snow on it! I walk past it most days and don't really notice it but today with the white of the snow it looked lovely so I tried out the close up setting on my new camera! Not bad methinks!!!! lol

365 - Day 5

Tuesday 5th January 2010
Getting ready to take the Christmas decorations down today and I thought I would just get a little piccie of my Kitchen window. I hate taking down the decorations. I love the lights and sparkle of Christmas. Everything always looks so boring after the decs come down :(
It was back to work today and nothing much else happened. I also didn't realise we would get daily prompts at Gotta Pixel to give us ideas about what pics to take. So this was my photo for today!

365 - Day 4

Monday 4th January 2010
OMG! The girls will kill me for putting this one in! lmao! I love it. This is the girls pulling a silly pose in the middle of a game of LOTR Risk. I got this game a couple of years ago and I read the instructions and thought it was way too complicated so it has never been out of the box! This year we decided to give it a go! The first game was a bit strange filled with
checking the rule book breaks and it turns out we still played it wrong! By the time we played this game we knew what we were doing at last!

That's all for now folks!

That's it for today unfortunately I had better get some sleep so I can get up for work in 4 hours!!!!!! Will post some more photos tomorrow!
Take care,
Ali

365 - Day 3

Sunday 3rd January 2010
Another relaxing day playing some good old family games. Boggle, LOTR Monopoly and LOTR Risk (guess who loves Lord of The Rings!) Zoe started reading her new books, The Twilight saga and amazingly actually enjoyed reading! Woo Hoo! Taking after my mum, Gemma and I are both big readers and we have always got a book or two on the go, but Zoe has never really liked reading. I have not wanted to force the issue and end up putting her off forever so it was lovely to see her with her head stuck in a book thorouhgly enjoying it! She spelt this out on the dining (usually craft) table with the Boggle dice and I thought this would be a great reminder in the years to come of the time Zoe enjoyed reading her first proper books!

365 - Day 2

Saturday 2nd January 2010
Coco got a brand new dog bed for christmas! A lovely fluffy RSPCA dog bed and did she like it or what!
Or what! Instead she took a liking to the beanbags I got for the kids to sit on over Christmas when we had a houseful and not enough chairs. After a hectic new years day coping with lots of visitors and excitement, Coco had a chill out day today! Like the rest of us she caught up on some much needed sleep!

365 - Day 1

I have joined the 365 challenge at Gotta Pixel . com which is a digital scrapbooking site. The plan is to take 1 photo everyday for the next year and hopefully scrap them aswell. I will hopefully end up with a year in the life of our family scrapbook! Something I really want to try to do! I have been taking the pictures but have not yet got round to scrapping them as my programmes are a bit messed up on my Pc and I am having a few problems with the digi side of life at the mo! I will get there eventually but for now I will be content with taking my photos and documenting why I took them so I don't forget further down the line!

So here goes with my first photo of the year!

This is literally the first photo of the year taken at 1 minute past midnight New Years Eve/Day. This year we spent new years eve at my Bessie mate Sam's house. We had good fun with lots to eat and drink, fireworks and games! The older daughters had gone out on the razzle so it was 2 Nannas, 3 mums and 3 youngest daughters! A good time was had by all! A good start to the New Year!

January Challenges at from Screen 2 Scrap and ARTastic

Hi Guys!

2010 already! Last year flew by but they always say time flies when you're having fun! And what could be more fun than having a go at the new challenges over at From Screen 2 Scrap and ARTastic, where I happen to be the guest Design Team Member for this month WOOO HOOO! Both blogs have got great challenges up this month and some great prizes too so come on over and have a look and get your creative caps on!

Here is the poster inspiration for this months challenge at From Screen 2 Scrap

The added criteria are

1. Black and white layout

2. Using one strong color

*Movie Diva Demand* For an extra bonus two points ....... use three or more black and white photos on your layout( This is optional, you dont have to do this but it does give you the extra bonus points!)
And here is my take on this challenge

I used the poster almost as a sketch but as my paper was square I used all the sides for my photos! I kept to the same colours as I love this combination! I kept it quite plain and simple like the poster with a few buttons and a flowers as my embellishments with a few small rub ons added to some of the photos.

Now here is the Piece of Artwork that is the inspiration for this months challenge at ARTastic

It is an amazing floral painting by Australian Artist Pro Hart

This is what Shazza had to say:

The Design Team and I thought it would be a good idea to use an Australian artist for Januarys inspiration, as we celebrate Australia Day on January 26th. This piece of art work is an easy one to use for inspiration. you could use the colors, shapes or even the overlapping technique. You could even add lots and lots of flowers. looking foward to seeing what you come up with.
Added Criteria

*ARTastic Diva Demand* For an extra two bonus points ....... add a cluster of flowers or a bouquet of flowers or a vase of flowers ( This is optional, you dont have to do this but it does give you the extra bonus points!)

and here is my Layout inspired by this painting!

I took my inspiration from the bright colours in the painting and tried to copy some of the spiky feel with the edges of the paper. in keeping with the floral theme I cut the strip of flowers out of a sheet of 12 x 12. I used Heidi Grace Chipboard letters and some rub ons for the title. For the Artastic Diva demand I have the little bouquet of flowers.I enjoyed this challenge thanks Shazza

I have also donated one of the prizes for this months challenge which is a selection of Letter stickers, embellishments and some sticky mini dots!

My rainbow

Your rainbow is strongly shaded violet.

What is says about you: You are a creative person. You appreciate beauty and craftsmanship. You are patient and will keep trying to understand something until you've mastered it.

Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

I am Blue- it's not as bad as it sounds

You Are A Blue Girl
Relationships and feelings are the most important things to you.
You are empathetic and accepting - and good at avoiding conflict.
If someone close to you is in pain, it makes you hurt as well.
You try to heal the ones you love with your kind and open heart.

You are The Empress

Beauty, happiness, pleasure, success, luxury, dissipation.

The Empress is associated with Venus, the feminine planet, so it represents, beauty, charm, pleasure, luxury, and delight. You may be good at home decorating, art or anything to do with making things beautiful.

The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. While the Magician is the primal spark, the idea made real, and the High Priestess is the one who gives the idea a form, the Empress is the womb where it gestates and grows till it is ready to be born. This is why her symbol is Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is more Demeter, goddess of abundance, then sensual Venus. She is the giver of Earthly gifts, yet at the same time, she can, in anger withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. In fury and grief, she kept the Earth barren till her child was returned to her.
